In-school programming to reduce cafeteria waste connecting to composting and climate education. Creating hyper-local pilots to process a small amount of cafeteria food waste in nearby active compost sites as a hands-on learning lab.
Goals: Outreach & Education
Create and implement Direct Data + Action monthslong programming for approximately 1,000 - 2,000 students and staff and design toolkits based on successful pilots.
Run three Data + Action programs with CafCu Instructors for approximately 1,000 - 2,000 additional students and staff in four to six week-long sessions.
Mentor additional schools to use our Data +Action toolkits to reach approximately 1,500 - 3,000 additional staff and students with hands-on curriculum focused on source-reduction initiatives and day-long workshops.
Scale our source reduction initiatives using toolkits and leveraging long-standing and trusted relationships with NYC Public School partners.
